Melhem Elias Fernando

Dr. Fernando is Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) at the University of São Paulo School of Dentistry - Brazil. He graduated from the University of São Paulo in 1990, achieved a Master’s Degree in 1995, a PhD in 2005 and the position of Associate Professor in 2012. Currently, he is the director of the OMFS Department and Residency Program at the University Hospital. From 2015 to 2020, he also held the appointment of Adjunct Associate Professor at the Houston Methodist Hospital and Institute for Academic Medicine – USA. Dr. Fernando’s private practice is mostly dedicated to orthognathic surgery, and his team is a reference for the major hospitals and health insurance companies in São Paulo. He has also been working for the industry and distributors, as a consultant on 3D virtual simulation and developer of custom-made implants. Dr. Fernando is a reviewer for the International Journal of OMFS and a Full Member of the Brazilian College of OMFS.
